On the hunt for a winter coat

Looking for a decent winter coat (or two). Has anyone seen anything nice in the shops?

I'm willing to pay up to 300euro for a good coat. I'll wear any colour other than red (doesn't suit me). Can't buy on-line as I'm quite tall, with long arms so I need to try the coat on and don't want to get messed up with posting things back and forth.

I was thinking of having a look in the Kilkenny Shop on Nassau street. Anyone been in there before?

Seeing as you want to spend up to 300 you might not consider Dunnes but honestly I have seen some gorgeous coats in there. I have my eye on a purple one for only €35!! You probably want to spend more but I have a few things from the Savida range in Dunnes that have lasted for years so they're good quality. They have some gorgeous coats in for the winter.

You should check out Reiss, they always have beautiful coats, they can be pricey but they are very well made, and always look great!! French Connection can do nice ones also

Oh I'm not saying I'll only buy something if it's got a hefty price tag, I just pulled out a figure to say I don't mind spending a bit on a decent coat.

I had a look in Dunnes yesterday and are the purple coats, the mac type ones? Reeeally nice but I'm looking for a warmer coat. I got a coat from Savida last year actually but had to throw it out as it was white and it got a bit worn.. :)

Is Reiss the one up at the top end of Grafton Street? I never have a look in there. Good thinking!

Saw the most amazing 3/4 length coat in H and M the other day

It comes in Red and Black. I know you said not Red but it was jsut gorgeous!

Mac style but feels like wool - very slick looking! About €80 I think

    Can't find a pic :(

i always think that a good parka is best for winter... next have a lovely range and do it in tall http://www.nextdirectory.ie/page.asp?b=X44&p=12236&o=1

Thanks for all the suggestions. I'll head into town tomorrow and have a look.

LauraLoo can you get those coats in the stores on just on-line? I have to try them on coz I'm my long arms! :) I really like that fitted black one with the unusual neckline/collar.

you can get them in the stores too- if they dont have your size they will order it in for you or they check if another store has one in stock (they generaly have a "tall" section so you should find it there). you have to pay for the coat to order it in but if it doesnt fit when it arrives you can get a refund no problem. Ive ordered items from next before and it has been fine on an occassion where i needed a refund as the shoe didnt fit.

there is a next on grafton street so you could pop up on a break from college

I just got an amazing Tommy Hilifiger winter coat from the TK Maxx in Waterford. Can't find a photo online. It's in red, but they did have other colours and it cost €130. Beautiful soft wool - a real steal as it's worth a lot more.
