Changing my kitchen in a few months time. I'm going for a cream one with a granite work top. I really think a wooden floor would look great with it. I'm thinking engineered oak as its pretty hard wearing. Anyone got experience of this? I know most people go for tiles but they're just so cold...Am I mad??

I have timber flooring in my kitchen. I did however put a line of tiles directly infront of the kitchen units/washing machine. I can't find an online picture of it, but it looks really good.

In addition the tiles catch any spills from the sink/wet clothes etc.

We did have a wooden floor in the kitchen in our first house. It was dark (mahogany or teak) parquet flooring. It did suffer some water damage (light stains) around the sink but other then that it was fine. A major leak would cause problems or even worse if there was a slow leak behind the kicker board. Definitely broke less ware though!
