Does anyone have any opinions regarding e-tendering in Ireland's construction sector. Are there adequate services available or is there need for improvements?. As more and more services are being managed online, e-tendering as a service can bring about significant administrative efficiencies in public and private sector procurement and ensures competitive pricing and transparent procurement practises for the benefit of buyers and suppliers alike

To date, e-Tendering has only really been made available for larger scale public sector contracts, but now there are a number of e-tendering facilities which allow users to post tenders for individual contractors in the private sector such as tenderme, bidjob.ie and e-tender.ie

CITA, the Construction Industry Technology Alliance has set up a special interest group (sponsored by Entreprise Ireland) which aims to explore the benefits, oppurtunities, and barriers to effective e-tendering in the SME sector. http://cita.ie/CITAX/Module3.asp

    a) What do people think of e-tendering as a process in the public and private sector. Should the cost limit which public sector contracts are obliged to go to public tender be lowered?
    b) Does anyone have experience working with the governments website and ideas about how it can be improved upon.
    c) Does anyone have experience with private tendering facilities either online or otherwise.
