    Could you specify what kind of website you are talking about?

    Depending on the website you might want to use Content Management System or just a text or WYSIWYG editor.

    That might indicate that the website is script-based (as opposed to a static HTML).

    Do you have a Content Management System on that website? What kind of content do you want to update? What structure does the website have? Maybe you can provide a link?

    I think a CMS is the best compromise between ease of use and customisation.

    The big hitters out there to consider would be wordpress, drupal, joomla and expression engine.
