Press contacts?

    Hi folks,

As you know a couple of the Mods have been added to the AAI mailing list for press releases so that we can put the full details up here. The idea is that you will get the entire story rather than a footnote in the national press and we should be able to get it too you faster.

Which got me wondering - are there other places we should be getting releases from? IMRA, BHAA for example? What about International Associations? And does anyone have any contacts?

Or is it just a stupid idea?!

Great that the AAI press releases are posted here. There's lots who have an interest in what the AAI do/say, who might not visit the AAI website, so its a good thing. But I'd imagine there's little thats IMRA related which doesn't get promoted, discussed, etc., on these pages. Any important announcements are usually brought up post haste by the many who cross habitate both forums. Linking to their (award winning!) website also sends traffic over there, and as they are a lot more specialized, that's a good thing.

They also link to relevant Boards stuff, such as our footwear discussion from a couple of months back.

Is there any point in getting in touch with the likes of Ian O'Riordan and similar journalists? Could be mutually beneficial

Apart from requesting their contacts or press release sources there may be no benefit for them and that may not be a benefit for them. In fact, us getting press releases here will mean that we will be getting the release before they have had a chance to pen an article on the back of it if they felt compelled to do so. Worth a try but I'm not sure what would be in it for either side. Getting releases from all the parties is the best step as these get sent to the journalists anyway.
