USN jets for the USAF.

It's been reported that the USAF may have to buy Boeing F/A-18E/F Hornets to cover the "Fighter gap" shortage in the next couple of years. The reason behind this purchase is that the ANG's Lockheed F-16C's, which are doing the country's QRA duties, are rapidly running out of hours and there's no replacements handy to replace the jets. This will also help the US Navy purchase an extra 149 Super Hornets.

It's in the news section of the October issue of AFM.

F-15C's are being retired quickly. Eglin AFB just sent out the last of it's combat-coded F-15C's (to the Air National Guard and the boneyard ( Davis-Monthan AFB AMARG ) I believe) this week. There are no plans/desires to purchase more F-15E's, although they are still being built for foreign sales.
