I would like to have a hands free solution that enables me to:

    1. Hear my music over the radio via bluetooth
    2. Make/receive calls handsfree
    3. Charge my iphone 3g using the charge port in the car (i.e. cigarette lighter)

I have looked at loads of products, have bought and tried out a couple with mixed results and have read so many conflicting reports that I am unsure of which way to go, so I would be grateful for any advice from someone who actually has a car/iphone/handsfree set-up that they are happy with.

A rough idea of cost and where such a thing might be purchased would also be much appreciated :)

I have an alpine head unit that works gret for playing the audio through blue tooth.. but for some reason the mic doesnt work properly at all on handsfree mode. My mic might be dodgy though!

I've got a Pioneer stereo in my car with bluetooth. It allows for piping the music from the iPhone through the car stereo (as well as the audio for Navigon). It has a built in MIC which you can mount on my dash in this case for making handsfree calls. Works great. I have a kensington holder attached to the windscreen and a decent cigarette USB duel port car charger. Can't remember the make off the top of my head, but this solution works great for me.

Thanks for the replies. Both of those sound interesting.

For various reasons, I can't replace the car stereo, so it would be great to hear from anyone who has an external system that doesn't require a bluetooth car radio. Something that is (semi)portable/movable to another car when the situation warrants it?
