Just wonder is anyone using this at the moment. What sort of speeds are people getting out of it ?

After reading the Meteor website I'm also none the wiser if there is a minimum period which you must sign up to. I'm guessing that there is no minimum period as you can use this service on pre pay.

Also, is it just HTTP that's allow on this service or are other ptorotcols such as FTP, IRC and POP allowed ?

I was looking for this and went to the shop in Athlone they said that it was almost ready for roll out and would be available on the 12th September and that they didn't want to roll it out unless it was 100%. So I went back in yesterday and it will be ready now on November 11th. I could buy one in Dublin but it might not work down here:rolleyes:.

I have a Meteor dongle as a backup connection and I've been using it since last Saturday because UPC decided to disconnect me for no reason. It's absoutely horrible at this time of night, only slightly faster than dialup speed:

    Download speed 86 Kbps
    Upload speed 77 Kbps
    QOS 19 %
    RTT 268 ms
    Max Delay 1345 ms
    Avg Delay 394 ms
    Max Bandwidth 168 Kbps
    Route Speed 1956 Kbps
    Forced Idle 0 %
    Route Conc 1.9
    Download test s
    Upload test s

I had some speed problems a few weeks ago, seems to be good now though, getting 2-3Mbps consistently on speedtest in the evenings.
