    Hi,

Anyway, I'm looking to get the Parrot MKi 9200 installed into my 07 Civic Type S. I went to Halfords (all 5 of my "local" branches and they will not touch the Civic cos it involves too much work and they said they will have to remove the dash which will void my warrenty. Carphone warehouse said the same thing.

Halfords advised me to get a price from Honda for my install which I duly did and they came back witha price of €415.
Considering Halfords price is €340 I think the dealer is taking me for a ride.

A friend of a friend installs phone kits but I'm reluctant to hand over my car cos I want it done right but I think Honda are taking the mickey.

I was wondering if I bought the kit would Honda install it for me or would I have to buy it from them for them to do it?

Anybody in Ireland have this kit installed and where?

    Thanks,

    Jay.

    Whereabouts are you based?

For all my Car Kit install needs (I work for a Fleet company so organise a fair few) I've been using www.jdm.ie for the past 3 years with no major issues. Never put anything in to a Civic, but I can't imagine it's any worse than the majority of new cars with in built radios.

I'd imagine if Honda supply & fit they'll provide a 2 year warranty, I can't see this as being the case if you supply the unit yourself. If it were my car i'd just give it to Honda and pay the extra €75 - your car warranty will still be intact and you'll have 2 years on the Parrot kit.

Jay have you checked any dealers north of the border, you'll get your warranty on the fitting without voiding your warranty on the car, they're also considerably cheaper. I got a memory seat, window, mirror control unit for my car for quarter the price including shipping from Isaac Agnew, here 2 days later than I could get it from a major merc dealer in the city. Tis only a couple of hours drive from dublin, drop the car in, get it sorted, bring the missus/partner/girlfried for some shopping and job's oxo, you're sorted.

I used this company for a Parrot 9100, but not in a Honda.

    http://www.phonesonline.ie/Product.asp?ProductID=749

They have a standard install fee of €95 plus mute cable if needed and will send a van out to install it. But at €40 cheaper for installation, JDM seems the way to go.

The ipod functionality works great on the 9100 model.

I have booked Stephen in Evolution Sounds Carlow to do my Civic. He said he has done a few of them before so he knows what he is letting himself in for in regards the "Starship Enterprise" dashboard.

I mentioned he was coming up to fit the kit in my car in my office and now he is also doing my workmates Audi A3 and my Bosses BMW 1 Series Coupe.

He is supplying all leads and kits plus calling out to our workplace to fit them.

    He sounds decent too.

I'll let you know how I get on.

    Jay.
