Why did he not ask for number?

At the end of a night out over the weekend I got talking to this really nice guy. I was fairly sober (only had around three drinks) and so was he so it wasn't a drunken conversation. Anyways he and his friends approached us and I got talking to him, we got on really well, no awkward silences, shared a few laughs etc and he had such a fabulous smile. At the end of the night having chatted to them all for quite a while, we were heading home and he just goodbye and smiled, no mention of asking for my number.

He was far from a shy person and I heard he was single and we got on well but I just wonder why he didn't ask for his number.

Why didn't you ask for his?

Maybe he is not dating at the moment and more harshly maybe there was no chemistry on his part.

I have to agree with the previous post, why didn't you ask!??

In fairness to the lad, he had the confidence to chat away to you, but maybe felt that he was gettin the wrong vibe?!

Did it occur on the street on in the clun/pub?

    Thanks for all your replies.

I have to admit but I have never asked for a guys number, primarily for fear of being let-down but yes I know, guys face the same problem of being turned down. I was chatting to him in the nightclub but It just came as a surprise that having chatted for so long and getting on so well that he wouldn't even ask for my number.

He possibly enjoyed the flirt but didn't fancy you. Women really aren't the only ones who do this.

Maybe he simply didn't want your number. It could have been an enjoyable and friendly conversation, but he didn't want any more than that.

As already said, if you were that interested why didn't you ask for his? The onus should not always be on the man to do the chasing.

    Thanks for all your replies.

I met him the nightclub later in the night and I thought we got on well.

I have to admit that I have never asked for a guy’s number, primarily for fear of being let-down but yes I know that guys face the same risk of being turned down.

He may be wondering the same thing.

Maybe he is already spoken for and was just out with the friends enjoying himself and being a gentleman and purposely not asking.

Does every guy you chat to ask for your number?

It's not all that puzzling, there could be any number of reasons and I think it's pretty obvious that you aren't going to get a definitive answer here... it's all just vague speculation

put it this way - would you prefer if he did ask for your number and then not bother using it? at least you know now he's not too interested ( IMO ) he did the right thing and he sounds honost. alot of guys ask for numbers and then not use them just because it felt right at the time and they have no intention of using it. At least that guy was honost and didnt make you believe something was going to happen!

FWIW I have never ever ever asked a girl for her number. I find it very uncool. If I am interested I have always asked straight out if they would like to meet up again. That may be followed by an exchange of number but the number alone I have always found to be distant and stand-off-ish.

    All the best.

If I was chatting to a girl I liked it would defo cross my mind to ask for her number but I would be worried about her saying no esp if she was a friend of a friend or something.... Asked a girl once for her number after just chatting to her, she said she'd take mine instead and I never heard from her!
Maybe he was a bit shy or just never got round to it, it does happen

    could just been to nervous!

I met my gf in a club, i was to scared to ask her number, got nervous.

A mutual friend ended up hearing i didn't have it and sent me in case i wanted it. I did... alot...

Love the girl to bits. This was a long long time ago to.. together quite a while!

    **** happens, learn from it!
    Next time ask him! :pac:

I agree totally with the OP, I have never and would never ask a guy for his number. I think the humiliation of being turned down would be so emabrassing for a girl. Perhaps this is a just a confidence issue on my part?????

Like a previous poster said he may have been too shy to ask for your number which is a pity as you said you both got on very well or perhaps he may have just come out of a serios relationship recently, is not dating etc etc, the list of why nots are endless. You might bump into him again but if not there are always plenty more fish in the sea hun.

    Good luck Xx

It's the same for a guy. Men don't get special anti-humiliation buffers at birth just for the purpose of asking out girls.
