Donwload and run this tool :
    CCleaner available here

Once its installed click on the desktop icon or right click on the recycle bin and "Open CCleaner" from there select , Run.
It will fly through your accumulated temp files and get rid of them for you.
In the end it will show the total amount removed, I have seen it pull 2gb's plus from machines so worth a try.
Aside from that you could disable System Restore as that takes up HDD space also. Right click My Computer -> Properties->System Restore Tab->Disable System Restore.

Why not? I'm not too sure what drives the 1300 came with, but perhaps it was a very low capacity drive?

Google says the 1300 had 60gb.

25MB of space is really not much at all. I have a song on my computer that is 25MB. You really need to go into Control Panel - Add/Remove programs and remove stuff you dont need anymore.

is there a chance you bought it for less money than your friends? they may have paid extra for extra hard drive space depending on the offer dell had at the time ...

i have the inspiron 1300 too and i have 60gb hard drive....

also can you invest in an external hard drive? might help!

The drive could be partitioned, or have unallocated partitions on it.

Here's a link to what you should see.

Is the circle completely blue like the image above?
