Is their 7m package any good??

49 euro a month free connection and line rental, not being in UPC's radar and not wanting to go back to BT or try eircom does anyone recommend it

You can't go back to BT - Vodafone took that over.

That said - their 7mb package is the same as BT/Eircom/UTV/etc - it's all Eircom's package. It's only price that's different.

I switched from Eircom and Airwave recently and am saving a bundle. Make sure you get the free Bewan modem.

So far great QoS (I have the 7m package) and would definitley recommend it, the only glitch I had was with my old eircom email setup in Outlook but switching to the Vodafone outgoing mail server resolved this.

Good luck (word of warning though, it can take quite a while to get soprted if you are switching your landline from Eircom - took over 4 weeks for me)

I've actually a landline that needs to be reconnected... got onto Vodafone today, took my details and said they'd get onto Eircom and get the line reconnected within 5 days at no charge (pretty sure Eircom charge for this but could be wrong)....anyway good start judging by their customer service, uncomplicated and civil....everything that UPC is not from previous experience

superb service and good download limits. The vodafone modem has USB ports as well for connecting network printers/hard drives. I have an external hard drive connected to mine to stream media to all laptops on my network.

The Line Attenuation and SN Margin does not depend on your ISP. You would have the same stats at your home if you were with Vodafone today and Eircom tomorrow. What does factor into those stats is your distance from the exchange and/or your line quality. Those stats can be obtained from within your router even when it's disconnected from the Internet. Another aspect that factors in is the rate your line syncs at, where SN Margin is concerned. The higher your broadband package speed, the lower your signal goes.
