I need to get some body work done on the car. It was reveresed into on one side so the front wing and door are damaged.

I'm looking for recommendations of where to get it fixed properely somewhere in Dublin. Its an 06 X5 so want to get the job done right, reckon I will need a new wing, possibly door. Not sure yet whether it will be an insurance job (depends on NCB protection).

Garages that I think have good reputations are Dennings and Crofton Motors. Are they expensive and anywhere else I should be looking for this job?

Try AC Car Sales - they have a body shop now. I got a bumper repaired and mirrors sprayed and fitted, and was very happy.

Edit - some before and after pics on that page by the way.

I had work done with Dennings, the work was perfect and they even collected the car from Dublin City Centre and dropped off the hire car.

Also had work done in Gerry McGuires in Percy Place. Has to be one of the best bodyshops in Dublin. I know a couple of Mercedes Main Dealers use these guys but he isn't cheap

My old man had work done twice by Smyth & Brannigan in Clondalkin, and was extremely happy with it. I'va had work done by somone last year, and was very happy with it, but in the past two weeks some of the paint on the front bumper has started to lift. Quite possibly due to somone being over exuberant with a steam- cleaner!!

Two very good repairers. Not the cheapest but the workmanship is excellent. Of the two I'd opt for Crofton Motors.

Thanks for all the replies. Turns out the insurance wont be impacted by this claim once the total fix price is under 10k.

To speed things along the insurance company say that if we go to one of their approved repair centres then we can get this job done really quickly and the excess is reduced by €130. Dennings is one of the approved repair centres so I'm happy to go with them.

Totally agree with Eoin about AC Cars. I had pretty much half my car resprayed/blended due to keying along the side and bad chipping on the engine bonnet, as well as redoing the door handles & rear bumper, and they did an excellent job. I understand though that your insurance will probably ultimately determine who you use...

Got the car back from Dennings and have to say that I am very happy with the job and would recommend them. Nice people to deal with also.

When looking into where to get the work done I noticed that Gerry McGuires refund you €100 on your excess if you go to them directly.... this might save someone a few bob in the same situation.
