Dell lappie delievery woes...help appreciated.

    I've scowered forum after forum trying to find a solution to this..but I cant find any.

    I ordered a Dell laptop last monday...on that tuesday the order had be changed to "Dispatched".

    Ok, so its on its way, it states 2-5 working days for delievery. Its monday and still not a peep. Now my original estimated time of delievery was the 24th of this month. I know it doesnt take that long as my family have ordered Dells before and know the setup.(I think its just to cover their ass with delays etc)

    My issue is this... The laptop is now supposedly with the carrier..Ie the newly named Interlink --> DPD.

    I ring their depot today..asking if my delievery is there yet...they stated that it wasnt..that they needed a consignment number to accurately tell me when it'll be here. They told me I needed to retrieve that number from Dell...15 min call to Dells customer support later..having been tossed between 10 different departments..I was then told that they dont give out consignment numbers...wtf?...

    How am I to track my delievery then?..this makes no sense. She told me that my laptop will be with me in 3-5 days from today, Monday. Im thinking she just said that to shut me up.

    Anyone know how to get this number?...DPD dont accept dell customer numbers nor order numbers.

    Here's my post about this,And i'm in the exact same position as you,Mine was shipped Tuesday and i've still got nothing,Dell said 2-5 days on their site for shipping the customer care the 5-7 days to get to Ireland,Then 24-48 hours before a call from DPD to arrange delivery.

    I've given up(it's hard to!) but i'm just going to wait patiently for a call from DPD,Dell don't give out the tracking number for reasons which are unknown to me and getting anything out of their call centre reps is like getting blood from a stone..What's you EDD?

    My status of delivery is

    "Status of delivery: Your order is currently with the carrier and a detailed status on your delivery should be available shortly."

    dell told me the invoice number was the tracking number!! came within 5 days alright in a clapped out white transit with no markings ! did have interlink express and piranha transport on sticker but i never checked the shipment no.

    The DPD van's all seem fairly new round here,Not that it makes any difference as long as it gets here :eek:

    As i mentioned in Ricky's thread, my status remained at the
    "Status of delivery: Your order is currently with the carrier and a detailed status on your delivery should be available shortly." stage for almost 2 weeks before getting a mail from dpd giving me a tracking number, i received the package a day or two later.

    Yea Ricky, I have the exact same message on my order status page, I mean if its been dispatched for over a week now..where is it?

    There seems to be a certain level of communication lacking between the two companies, maybe they are pre-mature changing the status of the order?..

    My EDD is the 24th as I previously mentioned, but if its already dispatched..it doesnt need that amount of time to get to me.....

    Woops sorry I missed you EDD,

    Dells EDD is usually over estimated to cover their backs and to keep people off their case asking where it is,In theory you should get it tomorrow or Wednesday or at least a call!

    PM me with your Order Number. If you ordered from Ireland It should begin with the digits 57. I may be able to give you a more accurate location of your system. But Remember Systems are now built in Poland and are with the Carrier for longer than when they were built in Ireland. Not sure if the IT systems have been updated to reflect this.

    Just twin-go said they come from china,And it seems others can come from poland etc..

    Some production is still being carried out in Limerick afaik, it might only be desktops and servers though...i had the same problem as you guys did with my package arriving from Limerick.

    It's not really a problem as of yet,I was told 5-7 working days by the dell rep I spoke too,So mine is still within it's limit,It would be if mine goes over the EDD I will begin to panic :pac:

    Looks like it won't be turning up today,Have always got deliveries from DPD in the AM so will wait and see what tomorrow brings :)

    OP did you get yours?

    Just off the phone to the courier,It's on it's way,although there's a few deliveries to be made before it,Will post comments on it soon

    OK,

    heres a solution im literally just off the phone and very satisfied.

    what you need to do is call DPD (The new name of interlink)

    Call 061480990 and tell the person that you have ordered etc.
    He/She will ask for tracking number, This is your Order Number (Should
    start 572...) then thats it. The Customer service guy told me my new laptop will be with them tomorrow and out for delivery by thursday.

    Hope this helps people as I was worried after all the bad reports of dell laptops.

    Since Dell started manufacturing stuff in Poland, they can't even track their stuff themselves.
