    Just thought you might find this interesting:

    I had planned to go to this and become a real life Record Breaker!! but unfortunately something has come up so i cant go. Anybody can join.

    This year’s festival will see an attempt at breaking the World Record for Largest Ensemble Guitar Performance! This will take place in Clonakilty (Co Cork) on Saturday the 19th of September and will see over 2000 people attempting to play the same song, at the same time, together, on that majestic instrument we call the guitar!(not the same guitar obviously!) So this is a call to all you closet guitarists, all you two chord heroes, all you keepers and guardians of budding musicians………………….THE GUITARFEST NEEDS YOU!!!!!!!!!!!

    I hate to kill your enthusiasm, dude, but as far as I can remember the record has been set in Poland where over 6300 guitarists played 'Hey Joe' together on 01.05.09.

    ACTUALLY:

    Andy the dude is a lying putz!!

    After wastin a little of my bosses time trawling through the internet i saw many posts claiming Poland have already beat this record, however they are all unsubstansiated (dont know if thats spelt right, im not a lawyer) and incorrect. As reported on the Official Guinness World Records Website: http://www.guinnessworldrecords.com/records/amazing_feats/mass_participation/largest_guitar_ensemble.aspx The largest Guitar ensemble is 1,802 people somewhere in Germany.

    So if i was Mayor of Clonakilty i would have you barred, unless you are gonna go down there and take part.
