    Hello all,

Just wanted a quick opinion, if any body can shed any light on what happening it would be great.

I got a present of a hybrid a few weeks ago. It was running grand but about a week ago a horrible cracking sound started coming every time i peddled.
The bike is still going grand but the sound is freaking me out.
I think its coming from the bits between the peddles....

Am i peddling it to a slow death? or is this normal..?

Thanks in advance for any relpys.

Hi, I had a similar problem with my road bike last week. It is more than likely the cups in the bottom bracket that have come loose. Or perhaps some dirt has gotten in there.
A quick check up/tighten up in your local bike shop will set you right,.
What type of bike is it? Do you know what type of bottom bracket is has (the bit where the axle for the pedals goes)?

Take the bike back for its first service (which should be free) and let the bike shop know about the noise and any other niggles.

Thanks a mil guys. Really appreciate the help.

Its a Giant FRC 4. I dont know a lot about bikes but it feels like a great bike. Looks great too. Considering I have been cycling my 15 year old racing BMX to howth and back to town, getting this bike makes it feel like i have super powers!! Im now considering a cycle to Galway or something like that for charity.. or maybe im getting ahead of myself...

    Thanks again
