Pro Tools 8 HD Playback Issue

    Hey y'all,

    Haven't posted in a while. Was hoping some of the Pro Tools super users here could help me out with this issue:

    The problem is to do with how Pro Tools aligns the playhead for playback. Essentially what I want to be able to do is click anywhere on the Edit Window with the selector tool and playback from there. DURING playback I want to be able to select regions with the selector tool, delete parts, basically all the usual comping techniques, without the playhead jumping to my selection.

    What's happening right now is I can't play from selection on the edit window and also during playback whenever I select a region or make a selection on the edit window, the playhead jumps to there. Highly irritating.

    I'm well aware and understand fully the options that Pro Tools makes available for tweaking the playback/selection options:

    1) Link timeline and Edit Selection: This allows the playhead to jump to anywhere I have selected so long as PLAYBACK is actually happening. No matter where I click before pressing play does NOT alter where the playhead relocates to.

    2) Link and Track and Edit Selection: Basically links highlights the track that I select on the edit window. Handy tool actually for soloing...

    3) Insertion Follows Playback: this toggles the classic tape player behavouir in Pro tools. When I push stop, playback will begin from that point at which the playhead stopped.

    All the above do not give me a solution to the problem mentioned. I'm so confused because up until two days ago, everything was working fine. I'm praying that it's me being stupid and not an inherint PT8 bug!!

    Anyway help you guys could give me would be most appreciative!

    It was dynamic Transport.

    There's 2 days of my life I won't be getting back!
