    I'm pretty sure POP outgoing mail doesn't work with mydit, i've never managed to get it to work.

    I've tried to set up my DIT student account on my iPhone and it failed miserably. I couldn't connect to IMAP server at all. POP3 was trying for a really long time and I lost my patience.
    In the meantime I tried to use Windows Live Mail and POP3 and it worked. But failed to send any email using DIT's SMTP server.
    Is there anything working in DIT?

    Incoming is mymail.dit.ie, it's an IMAP server, not POP3.
    User=student number
    pass=your date of birth in the form DD/MM/YYYY

    For outgoing mail, some ISP's force you to use their own outgoing mail server - for once, it's not the fault of DIT if their server doesn't work :)

    it is true when you have never changed your account password. DIT use date of birth for SelfStudenService.dit.ie or other, non-email related services.
    Btw, it's a shame to use such a weak protection for students data, isn't it?

    I have two other email accounts set up on my iPhone and they use different SMTP server and never had any problems. It's just DIT.
