    morning folks

just wondering, is cartell the best car history check or is there anyone better.

obviously i have the info from webwheels and i know there is finance owing but apart from that what else can i find out?

also, the fact that there is finance owing, if i were to buy the car whats the safest way, 2 drafts? one for the seller and one for the lender?

    cheers

Somebody is bound to mention mywheels.ie but the info is pretty basic. Free though. What car are you looking at Cyrus? another M3. As for the finance, my opinion is that is has nothing to do with you. Get the seller to clear that before you buy (short term loan if necessary) then pay him. There is no guarantee that the loan will be cleared with your money and you could be left hanging. If the loan is secured on the car, then it is not the sellers car to sell untill the loan is cleared. You could clear it yourself but that sounds like a lot of hastle. You could ask an accountant ;)

I'd run it through Cartell.ie or something similar. I'd also talk to the seller about it. It's in his interest to get it sorted, or else he wont sell the car, so I'm sure he'll help you in whatever way he can.

For a car like an M3, I'd also insist on a letter from the seller's finance company stating that the car is clear of finance. The last thing you want is to wake up one morning too be greated with the quad exhausts going down the road on a transporter.

if i give him two drafts one made out to aib F&L and one to him for the balance, there isnt a whole lot else he can do apart from clear the finance is their?

    its actually a mk2 TT:o

wasnt sure about it but went and drove it at the weekend and really liked it, not too dissimilar from the z4, but with the emergency rear seats that i need.

its also priced to sell :)

agree to deposit the draft to clear finance with the finance yourself with the seller with you and you can get written proof there and then that the vehicle is free of all debts.
have done this several times, only way to go about it.

so say it is with aib F&L, can you lodge it in any AIB branch or do you need to goto the F&L place?

The rear seats in the TT are so small I nearly wouldn't even say that they are suitable for children.

Going from their pathetic attempt to defend their business on this forum, I wouldn't touch cartell with a bargepole. I'd say motorcheck would be slightly better but I still wouldn't fully go by their word on a purchase of a car.

i realise they are tiny, but if i really needed to get someone in them i could, wasnt an option with the z4

I'm about average height and I can, just, fit in the back seats of a MK2 TT. It's not very comfortable and you have to crouch, but it can be done. Fine for emergencies and / or giving somebody a lift home from the pub.

FFS you are joking right  This has all the problems of the Z4 without the engine or good looks. You like performance cars wait for that good M3. I have a 335i i might sell you if the price were right,, contact me on BMW-Driver.net (same user name)
