    Hey guys,

just to let you know we are back with a bang this year!

we have plenty of events planned! kicking off tuesday the 22nd of september in the maradyke with our freshers week launch party! great music from 8:30.

we will hold a residency in the maradyke this year tuesday and thursday nights with plenty of different styles of music and plenty of good nights! we will also have drinks deals! (waiting to hear the specifics!)

if you are a DJ or are interested in learning to DJ come along on societies day and sign up! we will be running workshops through out the year on all elements of DJing!

also a note for society/club commitees - if you are organising an event and need a DJ, look no further than the UCC DJ society, we have loads of DJs with loads of experiance, you will probably know some of us any way from various events!

ya man deffinatly! any time u see a dj on campus or at UCC events there is a good chance its one of ours!

you can play what you want man! personally not a huge fan of the phrase "dance music" lol

when i started djing i was a massive metal head! now i play everything from house/dubstep/drum & bass/techno and then the obligatory chart stuff for gigs that chart is called for!

cool thats pretty nice! i was more looking into house and techno to be honest. i love metal too and some classical rock is nice as well:D what i meant by dance music is something like cascada or that singer september. but if one can play whatever, and there's money involved, and the chicks...i mean thats pretty much all the reason i need to join:D

Hey BDC, does this mean there will be no need to go to a s**ty nightclub and listen to useless music?? absolutely delighted, count me in. will the student nights be a weekly thing?

@ Mario007 come say hi at the beach party!

@rm_2008 the thing in the maradyke is actually gonna be twice a week!

it is only a pre clubbing type thing but the music in the clubs is getting a lil bit better! you must remember that it is for the most part the manager and not the DJ that decides what to play, I know someone that got an earful one night for playing a single deadmau5 track!

we will be covering loads this year but the tuesday and thursday is kind of more underground and off the beaten track!

I personally will be doing an underground/electronic music show on Cork Campus Radio starting soon hopefully if your into that kinda music!

if you wanted to get into it what kind of prices are you talking for basic equipment? Is it better to work off a cdj or a laptop?

totaly depends on what kind of djing you are doing and what kind of person you are!

it is more expensive off the bat buying CDJs but the society does have its own gear (well some were in the process of buying more) that members can use! the idea is were trying to help as many young djs as we can, if they like it they can invest in some kit, if they dont, no money really spent so no worries! i personally use a laptop and have a midi controller but midi controllers can go upto 2k aswell so its not cheap starting off but ive made my money back ten fold! and the enjoyment is unreal like! it is the best job in the world when you are getting paid to do something you love!
