Adding Front Fogs to Mark 3 Mondeo

    Hi,
Just wondering if anyone has ever added front fog lights to a mark 3 mondeo. I am looking at a Mondeo in NI, it is an LX model, but quite well specced all the same:
    - 2L Diesel TDCi 130 BHP
    - 6 gears
    - cruise control
    - and all of the other standard things like electric windows etc.

The only things it doesn't have that i would actually like are alloys (just a vanity issue really) and front fog lights (which i really do want).

The real thing about it is that it has low mileage which is consistent with its full service history (i.e., 29,000 miles, 3 years old, 3 services showing an fairly consistent ~10,000 miles/year).

It isn't amazingly cheap (would work out ~€11,000 after all the VRT etc is paid), and i could probably get cheaper by going to the UK, but i am in a bit of a hurry at the moment, and i don't really have the time for a trawl of the UK.

Anyway, as i said, the main thing that is holding me back is the fogs. My brother added fog lights to an 01 Focus before without much problems, but when i was looking for info on adding them to a mark 3 mondeo, i found very little info. The only thing i could find was this:
    http://www.honestjohn.co.uk/forum/post/index.htm?t=7189

Basically it seems that there is no kit, and although one person went to the trouble of finding the necessary parts, he didn't go ahead and buy them. So i wasn't able to find any examples of anyone who has successfully fitted them.

    Any info??????

You would have to check to see if the wireing and holders are already present behind the existing panels in the bumpers.

Might be just less trouble to find a Zetec model considering the plentiful supply of these cars.

Thanks. Unfortunately the zetecs that are available either have a lot of mileage or are the 115 BHP models.
I know more or less nothing about car mechanics. How would i check if the wiring is present. I am going to get the RAC to check the car before i buy. Would they find this out for me (theoretically outside the remit of the check i suppose).

Here's a wiring diagram for adding them. all you need do then is attach them.

Thanks Muppet. Unfortunately, i am not very au fait with car mechanics, so i am really hoping that the car is already wired for the fogs, and it is just a matter of connecting up what is already there. If not, is achieving what is in the diagram a big job?? It shows a bosch relay. Would that be there already or would i have to add that?
    Thanks.

Has anyone actually done this with a mark 3 mondeo?

You would have to get the relay, switch and wire, any motor factors would stock them. If you can follow the diagram it really is a simple job to do. The most difficult part would be sourcing/identifing the live feed for the switch in the car. I've done it on a focus, it's the same for all cars.

I can understand the alloys, but why do you really want front fog lights?

There are not many foggy days in Ireland, so you might only use them once or twice a year.

That depends where you live, If it's near the coast you will need them more than once or twice.

I live less than 100 metres from the sea. I've never yet encountered fog which necessitated the use of front fog lights.

Are you sure there was enough fog out?

Please, lets not go there. Think of the children.

That is what I was doing - thinking of the children. :)

Thanks Muppet. Sounds like its not such a big job so, but i would definitely need a mechanic to do it, as i am embarrased to say that i cannot follow the diagram.

As for needing fogs or not, i don't use them that often, but when they are needed i like to have them. I don't use the spare tyre very often either, but i still like to have it.

It would still be great to hear from anyone who has done this for a Mark 3 mondeo.

    Thanks.

He wants to fit in with all the langers in his locality that drive around with their fog lights on 24/7. The same people that only drive in the right hand lane on multi-lane carriageways.

I looked into getting the same on a Focus I had a few years back. Was told I would need a new wiring loom, new light switch as well as the actual fog lights. If it is of any help, there is a silver Mondeo in a scrap yards near Kilcock on the old N4, between Kilcock and Enfield. Was thinking of poppong in and seening if the radio was the Bluetooth one. I think it is the Zetec, so it would have botht he alloys and Fogs.

I know that a customer of ours had fogs fitted to a 08 LX Mondeo last year. Not sure how or where it was done, but it was done. I know that its the newer model, but maybe it can be done on the MK3 too.

    Thanks Drummerboy and OldmanMondeo.
I gave Ford a call. They said that the wiring is there already there, so i would need the actual lights and the light switch. They are quoting €430 all in, parts and labour.
I would be interested to see if i could get the parts off the Mondeo in that scrap yeard in Kilcock. If you have contact details OMM, could you pass them on?
    Thanks.

Just remembered, I had to replace one off my fog lights before, some stupid kid smashed into the front of the car, I only had it a few weeks. I got the through the job here for less that getting them from Ford. Try your local motor factors for them, they should be able to get them for less than you would pay ford. If I remember Ford were looking for around €115.00 each. All you will need to get then are 2 bulbs and the switch from any Ford with F/Fogs, i.e. Fiesta, Focus, Transit etc.
