senario: Stuck in the airport

Your at Dublin airport about to go on a much deserved vacation (destination is unimportant), your at the terminal on time waiting to board your plane but it been delayed for over an hour and of course airport staff give little information only to say it''ll be rectified as soon as possible. At this stage you notice that no planes have moved over the course of that hour and no planes are landing or taking off.

After another hour of waiting, you go to find the airport staff so you can ask what's happen and pass a tv which is saying Dublin airport has been quarantined due to the outbreak of some unknown disease. The news can't say what type of disease it is and authorities won't give out any information which at this early stage isn't that surprising. You watch for about 20 minutes but the 24 hour news channel just repeats the little information they have over and over as is the way with that kind of news service.

You continue on to try and find airport staff to find out what's happening but can't find any, you discover all doors leading out have been shut and have frantic looking security at them who you can't really talk to as their is a crowd and you can't hear what there saying through the barriers. That's when you see the first zombie, it's out in the main part of the building which your shut away from. The security engage and kill it, however it takes some time as they don't get a head shot straight away. Everyone is now in a huge panic.

Your trapped in the terminal, you've no idea where the outbreak is taking place, you don't know if anyone on your side of the barrier is infected. You can't really tell how big the outbreak is, the tv's have just been turned off. You try your phone but there's no reception any more.

    interesting.

ultimately, if you're stuck in such a situation, avoid the panicked crowds.

head as far back from the exits or main lobby as possible, if you're allowed to walk to your gate, do so.

this gives you time if an outbreak occours in the main terminal.

scout out any food or supplies shops, duty free usually sells a limited number of electronics items, try and secure an fm radio to keep on top of the situation. if that fails, keep an eye out for office areas, staff rest areas etc, for a stereo.

find somewhere that may be defendable, i.e. a gate, Pier A would be ideal as from what i can remember, there is an excessively long corridor over to it, and the gate doors are at ground level.

if all hell breaks loose, smash your way out onto the tarmac and get one of those ground crew trucks. drive over to the control tower on the far side of the airport [or the fire station] which is pretty secure and full of radios.

from there, further assess the situation [if the army are present and armed, and are turning evacuees away or shooting them] there may be an attempt to evacuate the staff at the fire station or control tower as they are remotely located buildings, also there is a chance that the army or gardai have annexed the fire or control tower as a base of operations.

if these fail, board one of the waiting aircraft and seal the door. you will have electricity, a radio, toilets and perhaps some baggage and food.
if you're lucky, the pilot might panic and try to take off, getting you out of the infection zone.

Chances of survival in such a senario are low. crowds of panicing people some infected, thats going to turn real ugly, real quick.

Lets assume the authorities won't shot you on sight if you leave the hot zone I.E No army snipers on airport boundary....yet.

One main advantage is you would be flying solo (forgive the pun). This will make it easier for you to escape.

First off I would quietly and quickly leave the crowd. I'm not familar with the airport, but such places have staff only areas and large plant rooms.Once I was in the staff area's I would quickly look for a boiler suit or other type of worker uniform, you may find it easier to blend in if discoverd.

I would empty my rucksack of anything not essential and pack it with food as I made my way to safety. I would also keep an eye out for a decent weapon, a firemans axe would be ideal, if one could make it to the fire station.

I'd have to make escape plan on the move but one thing is for sure, as soon as I know Zed day is happening, I will be prepared to kill anything or anyone to survive.

Getting out onto the tarmac is probably the easiest thing to do as those gates have doors that don't go up to the roof and it would be easy to hop over them. However your a sitting duck outside if the army are there you'll be easy pickings and I'm asuming the will show up eventually and seeing as 2 hours have passed they may be there already. If you can get to a plane they may be the most secure hideout available. I was thinking that hiding out may be the best option. Over time one of two things will happen, they'll stop the zombies or get wiped out, meaning you'll be rescued or at the very least can avoid getting shot.

The problem is airports are the most likely place for an outbreak so they're the one place we should all be prepared for as I like to travel.

That's a good plan actually, it's amassing the authority high vis jackets carry. I've done security at concerts and all they really give you is a high vis jacket I reckon if you had one you could easily walk into any event in this country without anyone batting an eyelid.

id agree with getiing away from pamicked crowds and get to one od the little computer stations then get on boards and see what to do!!

main objective is to find a safe zone that is secure prefferably a staff only are as micky dolenz says!!

after that its stay low as a packed are like the airport will get infected very fast!!!

and if its possible start a huge fire!! this will cause a panic but the zeds will stay away and will kill most of the people as they will just turn to Z's! harsh but must be done to save myself!!

I'd stand back from the crowd and follow Mickey Dolenz without him knowing. When he's getting changed into his boiler suit I'd approach him in a menacing way groaning and screaming like a zombie. I'd wait to see wet patch forming then I'd rush him, stopping short and saying "Its Maxpower not NOG ya coont!!"

I think the best way to begin a Zombie siege is to buddy up quick. Setting the mood is important, keep things funny, light and airy. Im sure Mickey would see the funny side of things...

We would then begin arming ourselves with blunt objects at first, a Fire Extinguisher. Then a metal bar, you know the zip rope railings everywhere. They'd make a great baton. Just to be sure I would kill any strange looking people without hesitation. So watch out forgieners... Eventually i'd make my way to an engineering area, there's lots of weapons there, helmets etc. At this stage I am sure we'll have polished off a few loan zombies... before making our way to Mc Donalds for a Big Mac meal and strawberry shake. Need to keep the energy levels up. After this it'd be off to the bar, where we'd begin making fire bombs out of sambuca and other flamable alcohol. Then it would be off to shops to find airosols, lighters etc. Eventually we'd have a few home made bombs to fend off the zombie horde.

From her it'd be an onslaught in the main terminals, burning, blow up and mashing as many zombies as possible. Hopefully this would encourage the army outside to stand and fight... if not at least i'd die happy knowing i went out fighting.
