whats the best place to buy laptop hdd

    Looking to replace my 60gb hdd sata with one 250-400gb

    Any good deals out there , whats the best place to buy

    mine is currently 5400rps, is it worth getting a 7200

    Some hdd have 16MB Cache, 3 Gb/s in the description, not sure what these terms mean, if anyone could help please

    PS I dont use laptop for gaming, do use for web, email, photos, Voip etc

    7200rpm drives create quite a bit more heat and noise, so it's up to you if you think the performance increase is worth it... I'd say stick with a 5400rpm model like the WD Scorpio

    Any of the usual places like Komplett.ie, dabs.ie etc should do the trick

    The more cache a HD has, the better

    Any 2.5" SATA HDD should do the trick for you, good news is they're dirt cheap too :P

    The cache is basically a temp storage bin data passes through while the hard drive writes to the platters. The 3GBps data rate just means it uses standard SATA-3000 cables.

    Good places to buy them? Phew.. Any of the reputable online retailers do them. Just make sure you get a 2.5" drive, not a 3.5". The slot in your machine wont fit anything other than 2.5" drives.
