Programming Channel 83 into a radio

Could some one assist me in programming in channel 83 into my VHF/UHF radio. I have been told that channel 83 uses the following frequencies 157.175 and 161.775 I am not too sure which frequency I need to program as the transmitting frequency on my radio. Many thanks in advance.

what kind of radio have you? the lower frequency would be th tx ie 157.175

You will need to set a 4.60MHz minus shift on 161.775 & store all that in a memory to keep the settings.

Coastguard transmits on the high freq (your receive), you transmit on the low freq (coastguard receive), kinda like using an amateur repeater.
