    just a couple of questions . . .

    1. what is the deal with getting lockers (im mostly in the hamilton building)? i never got one last year and regretted it. when are they given out and how much do they cost and would i have to get in early to get one?

    2. is there exams at christmas? i hope not! if so are they likely to be after christmas itself or before it? and is there any other exam periods otehr than the end of year exams?

For lockers, I think last year the forms were given out on the first Monday of lectures. You can get them in the arts building. I think if you want a big locker in the arts building you have to be there really early (like 6 or 7am... something like that), but I just went there at about 11am last year and got one in the Lloyd which was great... the only annoying thing is that it's not 24 hour.

Only some courses had Christmas exams, but I heard that there's no Christmas exams this year because of the whole semesterisation thing. They used to be before Christmas though.

Have a look at this thread. Be sure to get in as early as you can. The earlier you are in, then better the locker you can get. You can then hold the locker for 4 years unofficially. I still have the same one I got in first year.

In terms of what type of locker to get:
    • Hamilton: 24 hour access. Down the East End of college where all the Eng/Math/Sci students are.
    • Panoz: Same building as the hamilton, also 24 hour, but you have to walk further inside the building from.
    • Lloyd Building: Only available during the very limited opening hours. Down near the Hamilton building.
    • Arts Block: Only available during opening hours. There are a limited amount of double size lockers.

As far as I know, no department is allowed to set any Christmas exams.

We have them, for one (JS medicine). The logic given to us was that if full modularisation was being implemented, then we'd be having exams every two weeks.

Say if you wanted a locker down the Panoz Hamilton end would you necessarily need to be there early? Or could you pick one up anytime in Panoz?

I was a bit lateish getting my locker and ended up with Panoz, so I don't think there's a big rush on them.

Did you go to the supernintendo and tell him you wanted to keep it for another year?

Will a normal sized locker suffice or do you really need one of the double sized ones? I just want to fit in sports bag, maybe tennis racket in summer, plus books if i buy them

There's no way a tennis racket would have fit in the locker I had, unless you are a tiny tiny person, or unless my memory fails me... I could just about fit my bag into it.

The standard size lockers are big enough for books or a bag, with the added bonus that the ones in the Hamilton/Panoz have 24hr access. You can use the cloakrooms if you have something bulky like a tennis racket - this is what I did - but you can't leave stuff there overnight, or you are charged a fine.

Sorry for asking more questions, but where exactly do you queue? Is it at whatever building you're hoping to get the locker in? Edit: Ooh it's in the Arts Building, right?

Also, I'm doing Physio so I guess I'll been spending some times n St. James's. Is it a similar situation over there for lockers?

I never told the superintendent I wanted to keep my locker, kept forgetting about it. Still have the key and whatnot. I'm presuming they've changed the locks or something by now?
