Satellite Antenna

Hey, so I was looking at turning an old satellite into a wireless antenna. When I was looking at all the articles I noticed there was quite a lot of work involved. So what i'm wondering is... Can I just position a normal omnidirectional 9dbi antenna on the focal point (or whatever that yoke is on the satellite!) and then plug it in and it works? If I can... cool. If not, why not? Thanks

If you want a point-to-point wireless link over a greater distance than an omni-directional aerial can provide, the yes, a sat dish should work. Alignment might be tricky though....
