I didn't know where to post this, so feel free to move it.

I'm starting a science course on wednesday and the college sent me a letter yesterday saying I need to buy a lab coat.

Does anyone know where I could get a lab coat on the cheap in Dublin? I went to Arnott's yesterday and they're charging €45...

    Cheers :)

I don't know about Dublin colleges, but my college's shop in Cork sells them to students for under 20. Yours might too.

And best of luck with the course!

Thanks!, it's a PLC course (Pre-University Science) it's a year long and when you finish(and pass) you can enter most science courses in Dublin. The PLC's shop sells everything, but lab coats

I have been hearing about been able to buy them in the Student Union's shop in the big universitys. Would a non-student be able to buy from them? I live close enough to DCU.

I also tried to buy one in Murray's medical supplies on Talbot St, but they don't sell them anymore.

If you were able to wait it out I'd say here could have your coat out to you in a few days. Its just a standard coat, but reasonably priced. Congrats on getting your place btw :)

Try the Student Union Bookshop in Trinity College: go in through the front arch into Front Square, immediately turn left, go into number 6 and then up to the second floor. They're a little cheaper than Clarendon (if only by a couple of euros), but the shop probably won't be open for another week or two.

Ebay have them for half nothing http://tinyurl.com/p5mvlf

Mine (bio coat) was thirty quid in Trinity three years ago. O'Connells might on Capel Street. It's a uniform shop.

It's unlikely that your first week of college will have labs running. Often these don't start till the second (or subsequent) week. Ring the college and ask, you may be in luck

They definitely have them in the spar in DCU. They're about €15. Good luck with the course!

Last year Bank of Ireland opposite the main entrance to UCD was offering either a free lab coat or dissection kit, from Clarendon Medical, to students that open an account with them. They may be doing something similar this year.

Thanks for help everyone, got one in Clarendon Medical for €24. Bloody jammers with all the med students!

Bingo! That's where I bought mine. I went to college in Carlow for four years and paid 40 Euro in a shop in Carlow for my first coat. I then found that shop on Capel street and paid just over 20 Euro. They have the top brand too (PortWest).

I got one in O'Connors on Capel street too. Was a few years back so can't remember how much. Still have it too. Complete with strange stains :)

You can definitely get them in Claradeon Medical, and I think the Arnotts uniform shop in the GPO Arcade do them too.

    I don't think Tallaght01 has even heard of a washed labcoat :p;):p

You can get women's labcoats in Finns Corner in Cork, which might seem vain but to get a unisex one big enough to close on my chest means it's massive on the rest of my body and I once knocked some things off a lab desk with the sweep of it.

Also, I look much better in it :P :P :P

I hink only arnotts do the fitted lab coats they're about 50 I'd get a regular lab coat on of the 20-30 non fitted ones for anatomy etc cos no-one will care what your lab coat looks like plus you'll want to throw it out after anatomy (no matter how many times you wash them they still smell like the anatomy room). Then get a nice fitted coat for when you're going to be on the wards.

I'm okay with it if you just want to draw them on your coat - with various shades of highlighter, of course.
