Catchphrases.. in real life?

A mate of mine's recently started saying "How do?" all the time, he wants it to become like his own catchphrase.

So I thought about it, I used to start every school day with "Hellooo Children"; then my 'catchphrase' was "Roiiiiiiiicht" (Right, but in a weird accent and elongated). Now I don't have one, I'm just a "character" (read pervert)

A teacher at our school says in EVERY SENTENCE" "This is sort of what I like to call...", every takes the piss out of that.

Do you know anyone who has their own 'thing' (I can't think of a better word than catchphrase :/)

And yes, all of my threads are shít.
There'll be a good one someday, I'm sure

If I ever met someone who used catchphrases regularily, I would slap them with my glove.

yeh thinking bout it I know a guy probably a few actually who say knowameen (do you know what I mean)

I pull them on it and as we talk on they notice themselves doing it but just cant stop (removing the tongue will help in this case)

I say 'that's it' a lot, when in agreement with something. Not sure if I'm the only one, but people take me up on it.

I have a dislike for those who intentionally attempt to be unique in anyway. Conform to normality.

We get "team talks" in work every day, what we're supposed to do, how much money we are aiming for etc and my manager actually ends every sentence with, ".... ya know yourself"!

    So team talk is :

"Alright lads, it's a Thursday evening, ya know yourself. Conversion today is 18.4%, ya know yourself. The emphasis is on customer service, customers before tasks, ya know yourself. Head's up, the three A's - Aware, Acknowledge, Approach, ya know yourself! Ask open ended questions, "What are you gonna wear with it, what's it for?", ya know yourself, lads! Footwear target is 169, o-bottoms is 211, overall we are looking for fifty thousand as a site, alright, YA KNOW YOURSELF! Have a good one, guys and
    YA KNOW YOURSELF!"

    Aaaaaaaaah! :(

He's a she! I remember the first time I met her, she said, "Alright, how's it goin'? I'm <insert name here>, ya know yourself!".

I thought this cannot be good, she just introduced herself and followed it with a "ya know yourself!". I wanted to say, "No, I didn't know BECAUSE I HAVE NEVER MET YOU BEFORE!!!!"

I am personally responsible for "muppet" becoming a widely recognised term of abuse.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,390 ✭✭✭fintonie

nope im not doing it again.

it kinda reminds me of chandler getting smacked by his boss after the pep talk, and if the other guys didnt get one they were unhappy.

would she be she without it, if it was left out of the pep talk would you perform as well.

How would that fit into any real conversation!!!:D

I hate how alot of Limerick people tend to say "Sound as a Bell". A Bell is not sound. It makes sound!!!

"As they say in France..........see ya later"......

Dunno why. Maybe i'm just an idiot.
