    Hey Guys,

    New to the forum, but wanted to introduce myself - hopefully I can help a few of you out.

    I'm a developer on the free opensource project 'XBMC' (http://xbmc.org), which is the original codebase of Boxee, and i'm a developer for overplay.net, a provider of very high speed VPN servers for online TV.

    My involvement with XBMC mostly focuses on hardware acceleration under Linux - I implemented the VDPAU support around 9 months ago, and it's been a roaring success, being picked up downstream by boxee too. I'm also maintaining the RTMP streaming components in XBMC, allowing for example, watching BBC iPlayer and most other flash-based content from inside XBMC.

    I'd imagine a few of you may have used it already, but if not - give it a shot! I'll hopefully be around here to answer a few questions if needs be, but there's also a large and committed community over on the project site.

    Hi motd2k,
    I'm mostly a lurker on this forum, but I just wanted to come out of hiding to thank you and everyone over at xbmc for a great product.
    I've been using it on my xbox for nearly a year now and can't imagine my life without it :)

    "An 'addon' for XBMC, Boxee, and Plex will shortly be available to allow connection to the correct location depending upon which video service you request (USA for Hulu, UK for iPlayer for example) - another part of the value add we aim to provide - to grant you a free world of video!"

    any estimated date for this?

    and will it work with the nbc, cbs plugins for xbmc?

    Hi

    I am currently using an apple TV in the US with XBMC and Boxee, and am very interested in Overplay.net to allow me access to RTE player and BBC iplayer. I read on the overplay faq's that you're working on apps to allow users to switch VPNs depending on the video content being watched. Until this happens, is it possible to configure xbmc or boxee to use the Irish VPN, without the automatic switching? Could you give me a few days free trial of overplay to test it out?

    Thanks

    We have a Boxee repository available for you to add to the AppBox section in Boxee, it'll provide the ability to connect to many of our VPNs directly from Boxee and should be exceptionally simple to get working.

    Just add http://overplay.net/boxee to you AppBox section in either Boxee alpha or beta on the AppleTV or on any OSX machine.

    as it happens I could do with a little help, I'm a newbie on a first time HTPC build.:)

    feel free to move this to another thread if I'm not supposed to derail this one.

    I've installed ubuntu (latest one whatever it is) and I then installed xbmc onto it using the following command in terminal window.
    $ sudo add-apt-repository ppa:team-xbmc
    $ sudo apt-get update
    $ sudo apt-get install xbmc
    $ sudo apt-get update

    that seemed to do the trick. xbmc installed and i can run it, the trouble is that the mouse pointer on screen is chronic slow. there is a delay of a few seconds to get it to move.

    any suggestions as to anything I've done wrong?

    I'm using an ASUS M4A785-M motherboard, 4GB Ram , Ubuntu 32bit, optical mouse (which works absolutely fine in ubuntu desktop)

    thanks for any help

    Hi,

    Do I need OpenVPN installed to use this? What's the easiest way to install it?

    Thanks
