We are having the roof reslated, am I right in presuming that the battens should be pressure treated and you can smell and see the treatment?

I dont think you would really be able to tell by looking at the battens.

They may not have any colour or odour but if you feel the timber you will usually get a clammy feel and the timber will most times be batch stamped.

So do I just take his word for it?
If they are not treated is there any point in brush treating the ones on the roof?

They are pretty much always like this but there may be other colourless treatments that are not as standard.

It is very imortant that they are treated.

I think I'll ask him who is supplier is and have a look at their stock. No point in waiting till the slates are on.
