Last saturday i was out for a 50k cycle and took a few different routes, just at the junction of sheetland rd (Termonfeckin )and Sandpit, out comes this savage looking bull mastiff, I had to dismount and block this dog with the bike after about 2 mins a car came and made a drive at him, I jumped on the bike and got out of there asap.

I was driving past the same house today and called in and eldely woman came out and I explained the situation to her and immediately she chained him up, she told me it was a cross breed bull mastiff, he is one mean looking dog.

Be careful if passing this junction.

Report it to the Gardai, owner should be locked up for having a dog like tnhat on the loose

A member of our club was brought down by a big stupid lab' just over a week ago. Knew the dog was there from previous experiences but thought it would keep to its m.o. of coming to the gate and barking or hiding and chasing - but the stupid animal got it's timing all off and ran right under the front wheel *crash bang wallop* and hey presto - he has a broken collar bone now, and an early end to his cycling season.

I'd agree with this (going to the gardai, not necessarilry locking the owner up) if going in and talking to the owner doesn't result in the dog being leashed or otherwise confined to its garden (by radio fence r whatever). If they know the dog is making a hazard of itself and doesn't take steps to change that then the boys in blue should be able to give em a good tongue lashing
