Amazon Blu-ray BOGOF starts on Monday

Some superb value in this.. especially when there's a number of Blu-ray's under a tenner!

One I cannot recommend enough is Sunshine... a film that I already own on Blu-ray and NEEDS TO BE OWNED ON BLU-RAY!! *

Ones priced at under a tenner include:
    • Sunshine
    • Juno
    • Die Hard
    • Die Hard 2
    • Transporter 2
    • House of Flying Daggers
    • 28 Weeks Later
    • 27 Dresses
    * I needed to shout to elaborate how much I mean it!

You and your bloomin' Bluray alerts!
    I'm bloody skint like! :(

As for the BOGOF, I'm assuming it's the cheapest one is free. Can't see anywhere it's written.

Yeah, I'd assume it's cheapest free, as is usually the case.

Thanks for the headsup, basquille, even though I had told myself to resist buying BD's for a while... :)

'Yup, it's as good as it sounds. Simply choose your favourite Blu-ray title from the superb selection below and then pick another one absolutely free.'

does this not mean pick the two from list provided.

What will delivery be for the two blu rays?

Added 2 Blu-ray's to my cart and it was £2.27!

Worth it for Amazon's shipping.. much better than any other online retailer.

I assume so.. what other ones would they mean?

Sunshine is one of my favourite movies.

I bought a full HD tv, but I haven't bought a bluray play yet, and probably won't be for a little while, but I may take advantage of this!

You should see and hear the Blu-ray MagicMarker.

The fantastic score and wonderful visuals are just made even more glorious.

Probably the best Blu-ray I've watched.. great review here!

Got to agree. Sunshine is gorgeous on Blu-Ray.

Just a shame that all the rest listed in my opinion are crap :(

I think you need to be more specific when saying under a tenner, that's sterling, and before Irish VAT and delivery charges.

Big whoop.. being a bit pedantic, don't ya think?! ;)

Valkyrie is a great war movie (suprisingly enough as I didn't think Tom Cruise could play a German Officer but he was pretty good) and Taken is also an excellent movie. I have these on DVD as I usually don't buy blu rays unless they are must haves like Transformers, Wanted (and the forth coming Star Trek and Terminator Salvation) as the price of blu rays is a rip off imo compared to the price of a dvd.

  • Site Banned Posts: 5,676 ✭✭✭jayteecork

What's the Blu Ray of taken like? Worth going for it if you've already seen the DVD?

Do you own shares in Sunshine Basq ???

Limited selection. Saw Sunshine on DVD and wasn't mad about it - certainly didn't feel it warranted a second viewing, nevermind purchase.

I really want Leon on BR, Director's cut and just out. Looking forward to it.

    +1

Leon is a brilliant movie tht I was going to get on DVD but the cheapest price I could get was €40!!!!. I'll definitely get it on blu ray.

As for Sunshine, I'd agree that it wasn't a great movie. As a sci fi fan, I was expecting a lot better storywise and while the visuals on blu ray might be superb, its just not worth shelling out for on blu ray if you've already seen it.

    This is actually bollocks.
None of the titles are that good.
Was going to go for Sunshine and Die Hard 2(about 13 sterliing delivered), then I realised i didn't like Sunshine when I saw it and Die Hard 2 is pants, with the reviews saying that the transfer isn't much better than a regular DVD.

So 6.50 each or nearly 8 euro per title.
Think i'll wait till I see something good at sendit or play with free delivey instead - **** Amazon and their outright scandalous P&P policy. Books and video games are 4 quid minimum.
And it doesn't matter if you spend 200 quid there you're charged for postage, unlike our friends across the sea.

    Rant over.

Matter of opinion really but I think there's a couple of great titles in there.

€8 for a Blu-ray is a great price.. what are you expecting?

You'd prefer waiting a week with Play.com's "free" delivery but a bastardised exchange rate, as opposed to Amazon's shag-all for postage (and it'll get to you in 3 - 4 days tops, in my experience).

Not to mention Sendit's dodgy stock situation... was waiting 4 months for them to dispatch an Xbox game at one stage.

But it's international shipping.. why would you expect international customers to get these perks when it costs more for Amazon to post?

Amazon (even with VAT, delivery) are one of my favourite retailers, and still one of the best retailers out there for customer service (28 day price match policy etc).

I have never had a bad experience with them.. unlike other retailers.

My points aren't all over the place.
First of all Amazon have offices in Cork, I know people working there. Hardly "international". They charge 4 quid postage for a game, you gotta be kidding me.

Anyway I changed my mind, decided to go for Man on Fire and Taken - a bit extra then what I was going to go for previously but they're both amazing films and from my research the Blu Ray transfers are as good as you can get.

I gtd i wouldn't have watched Sunshine or Die Hard 2 if I ordered. I actually fell asleep watching Sunshine.

Just tried ordering Quantum of Solace and Slumdog Millionaire but it was charging me for both....Is there a code required for the BOGOF ?

AFAIK, Amazon don't ship from that office though.

Well, the last few things I ordered definitely were post-marked that way.

It doesn't apply the discount until the very last stage... after you choose your credit card you wish to pay with.

I thought Quantum was a real step down from Casino Royale. Very little drama. It felt like anytime something was happening, it'd get intercut with something else which had nothing to do with what was going on. Like a race, or opera or something, which I suppose was to heighten the drama, but I found it sort of annoying.

And spoilers, but I don't think Daniel Craig got whipped in the testicles at all in this one.

Your mileage may vary, of course.
