Thank you for your recent email,

The existing timetable has been extended until further notice, and no changes will take place on September 27th. In light of the current economic situation, we are currently reviewing our train services to see how best to utilise the resources available to us to maximize overall passenger volumes. Our priority in this review will be to ensure as best as possible that we maintain current services, while evaluating service improvement possibilities.

I expect the timetable review to be complete soon and an update will be available on www.irishrail.ie

Not looking good.....above a response from IrishRail to the proposed commencement of additional services from end of Sept!

    Brgds

Think yourself lucky to have a rail service to Mayo at all and with cretins like Colm McCarthy calling the shots can it last? Meanwhile down here in the Soggy South East we wait in vain for the 22000s promised to be in service here more than a year and a half ago!

Westport is to get a train leaving about 5AM service and an additional train in the evening; a total of five services a day. There is a few problems trying to work out rosters as it's tight with driver numbers but that's the plan for the west :)

The introduction of the new timetable has been deferred in the light of the Malahide Viaduct collapse and the delay in completing the WRC.

Given that there are serious issues with rolling stock being trapped north of Malahide and maintenance facilities being stretched, this is probably prudent.

The good news is that there is now only one more six car set of the new 22000 Class Intercity Railcars to be commissioned, leaving only the two sets damaged in transit to be delivered, although I understand that these will not be returning until 2010-11.

This was promised to start by the end of Sept, who knows when now though?
