Well, I got married there, and had a ball. They have amazing skiing too. However, we stayed in various hotels around the town, so I don't think that's what you mean when you are asking about accommodation. They do have a youth hostel in town, which might be your best bet while you look for a local apartment or somewhere affortable to stay.

One thing, Zermatt is not cheap. The lift pass costs an arm and a leg, and so does drinking. Stick to draft beer and avoid mixed drinks. My mother nearly had a heart attack at the price of her brandy and soda, while my beer was about the same as Ireland.

The skiing is fabulous. It's so high that they don't have flush toilets at the top, the water would be frozen. Saturday (changeover day) is amazing. You should have the pistes to yourself and can bomb down everything without seeing another soul.

I've done a couple of seasons in Zermatt. It's a fantastic resort with great pistes. The resort is expensive but it can be done on a budget- I wouldn't let it put you off.

The downside is accomodation is almost impossible to find. Unless you have secured it by now you may be too late. And you need to go over and do it in person to secure a season rental. The majority is taken by the hotels, tour operators or ski schools for their staff.

If you're working for a tour company, they should be able to sort you with accomodation, or if you're working as an instructor, they'll usually help you find somewhere and vouch for you with the landlords.

The other option is living in Tasch, which is a 10 min train ride from Zermatt, further down the mountain. This will seriously restrict your social life if you plan on partying but there's a lot more accomdation available.
