    Hi Folks,

I'm getting married next week, and my wedding DJ has told me he'll play anything I woulsd like to hear.

We are hoping the band will provide enough enjoyment for the oldies, however I feel the DJ should belong to the "younger" crowd (25yo- 35yo):p

So with that in mind I'm putting together a list of tunes to give our DJ and I'd like you help.

I'm looking for "alternative" (UUUGGHHHH I hate that word) songs but good songs.

No Dancing Queen, no Galway Girl, no Saw Doctors, no sh1te basically.

Yes to The Smiths, yes to Eagles fo Death Metal, yes to The Roses etc.

It can be from any era of music, and not just "indie".

    So whaddah say....any ideas.:)

I'll start of if I may.

    1. Want somebody to love: Jefferson Airplane.
    2. Suffragette City: Bowie.
    3. Rock Lobster: B52s
    4. Epic: FNM
    5. Take me out: Franz Ferdinand.
    6.
    7.
    8.
    9.
    10.

a few tracks are trying too hard there.
not sure how you can contemplate "the eagles"

    roses
    nirvana
    manics
    gomez
    beck
    jurrasic 5

problem is ur kind of stuck to charts/mainstream so that 2/3 crowd will have heard of it. which is a contradiction if you want indie.

    for eg.
passion pit "seaweed song" would be class at any party but would people jump up exclaiming its passion pit !!! and hail the dj as on the pulse... i doubt it

still fair play to ya for saying no to the usual wedding shi@e and raising the bar...

yey first post! (I lurk a lot) :o

This is sort of my "thing" as on saturday nights I dj in a "regular" bar where my music brief is "no sh!te"... but I still have to keep the *what do you mean you wont play blackeyedpeas* crowd happy while also getting sneered at by skinny jean type boys for not playing their obscure and totally unsuitable requests either

So anyway, heres some recommendations for keeping the majority of the crowd happy for the majority of the time at an indie-ish event :pac:

    YYY- zero/y control/heads will roll
    editors - munich/papillon
doves - black and white town
    sublime - santeria/wrong way
The smiths - there is a light that never goes out
    pulp - common people
lcd soundsystem - daft punk is playing at my house
the rapture - whoo yeah alright uhuh
the specials - too much too young/message to you rudy
    madness - house of fun
    the strokes - 1251/reptilia
    belle and sebastian - expectations
    jamie t - chaka demus
white lies - death/farewell to the fairground
moloko - the time is now
kings of leon - taper jean girl
    blur - charmless man

need coffee to think of more :pac:

I hope you have a fab wedding! :)
