Prime / Zulu / Snakebite / Wildcat (Jervis or Stephens Green) / Art Tattoo / Classic Ink / Colourworks / Connected Ink. All have good reports. Best to consider what artist within these studios suits the style of your wanted tattoo though if you're just picking something off the wall / out of a catalog then any of the above should be more than capable of providing you with the service you require.

    ah cheers friend
i dont particularily fancy a pamela anderson job on it, if u know wat i mean.
wat do u mean by a difference in choice of individual artists within each company? are some reported to be less hygene conscious than others?

What Diceicle meant was that each artist will have a different style they are best at. Some are better at Japanese/kanji, others are better at portraits, others better at script, and so on. If you're just picking something out of the studios flash books, any of the artists there will do a great job. But if you're getting something custom, in a particular style, you're best having it done by an artist who's good with that style. What did you have in mind?

Have a looksee in here for a lot of artists portfolios. http://boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2055505603 It might help you better to choose.

I was looking to get a celtic design/knotwork design.....

but the whole point of the thread originally was to ask about anywhere good hygene-wise.
If you remember, pamela anderson got hep c a couple of years back that was attributed to a tattoo, so basically i was just watching out for that, and trying to avoid anything similar happening.

cheers again for the replies though, cuz i wouldnt have thought about specialisations and the likes.

Take a look at the link provided and find an artist within who has done some knotwork that you think is amazing (and nothing short of amazing! Pretty good doesnt cut it.....................you dont want a pretty good tattoo do you?). There's also Inkwell near smithfield and Stigmata in swords which are good. The thing to look out for to put yourself at ease is that you see the artist set up while you're there, that is, you witness the artist opening a fresh set of needles and a fresh grip and setting his/her machine up "from scratch".

No problems. The chances of you getting Hep C, or anything else, from any of the places that were mentioned is extremly small, nigh on impossible. the guys that are doing these have been doing it for many years, they know all the safety precautions and dangers. Their equipment is regularily being tested to conform to safety guidelines. Everything they use will be new and sterile, and then disposed of after.

A good indicator I've always worked by, does the place smell clean. Its a good tip off if the place smells like dettol, or a doctors surgery.

Good luck, and don't forget to post in the pics thread when you get it.
