brushcutter where to buy

Im looking to buy a decent brushcutter - needed for briars, long grass gorse. Was quoted 525 for a Stihl but really wanted to spend around 200-300. Anyone got any ideas where to buy and any more reasonable names than stihl - are the ones in B&Q, Woodies etc too lightweight?

Also need a new petrol hedge trimmer to cut at least to 2cm.
I know you get what you pay for but is there a middle ground?

What size area are you cutting? Is it Grass or Gorse? there is a big difference between cutting gorse and grass!
You sound like you need a clearing saw more so than a trimmer and you need to be looking at a 40cc+ machine to run a metal blade properly, and bike handlebars to control it.

Stihl IMO are overpriced in this country and don't offer the best value for money, yes they have good backup but that doesn't excuse the premium over other brands.
Suitable brands would be Tanaka,Maruyama, Marunaka, Kawasaki.
    Ot

I have a Tanaka 40cc and it works very well on blackberries and heavy grass with metal blades and a smaller 26cc Maruyama with nylon line for finer work.

Or try this crowd they deliver here for very little.
