remedy for damaged bark? pics

    Can anyone help me mend my tree,its not a huge chunk of damage but I'm concerned that if I just leave it........ Its my one and only tree in the garden and is loved by us all(and the neighbours!)Thanks kindly

    it does'nt seem to be too bad and i would think that the tree can cope with the damage ok.....if you wanted you could apply a wound treatment such as "lac balsam" also called artifical bark which works very well at preventing infection and promotes faster healing.

    I would leave it, the wound should callus over naturally itself.
    To be honest I would be more concerned about the tightness of the decking around the trunk. Talk about a honeymoon squeeze.

    Thanks for that,I don't feel so guilty now!

    The damage was caused by me trying to remove the decking to enlarge the hole:(
