    Hi babyjames

if you are on one of a number of social welfare payments and you meet the other conditions, the Back to Work Enterprise Allowance can be paid for a period of time while you start a business.

There are two strands, the Back to Work Enterprise Allowance and the Short Term Enterprise Allowance.

The qualification conditions and the amount of time the allowance is paid are different under the two schemes. You can find out more about both schemes here: http://www.welfare.ie/EN/Schemes/JobseekerSupports/BackToWork/EnterpriseAllowance/Pages/ea.aspx

In both cases your Mortgage Interest Supplement may be affected. There is information on this in the document under the heading 'secondary benefits'.
