Deferring driving test...

    looking for some help here;

    Had to apply for my test in order to get a third provisional, (I hadn't practiced driving with the first two and didn't have a car, got the first two when I was 17 and 19 and now 26) so basically the letter came today offering the test for October 16th...

    However, it's way too soon and I only bought the car last week; whilst I am out in it every chance I get (with an fully licenced driver) and I am getting a few lessons, I won't be ready for the 16th (also am away for the week before so won't get to practice..)

    My question is, finally, when I email to cancel/defer, should i do it now, today, or wait for the ten days before the test...if I leave it to the latest possible date (which is the ten days before the test) will I be given a replacement date further away then if I cancelled it today? .

    Why not book a few lessons and do the test? You have over 4 weeks to prepare. If you are unsuccessful, so what, you have gained valuable experience and most people pass the test second time.

    Really? EEK! Is it honestly possible to learn all the stuff in 5 weeks? At the moment I am just about used to my car, bring it on drives but not parking/limited with the turning and havent tried a 3 point turn..but Im eager!

    Plus my test is scheduled for 3pm on a friday ....

    I had to cancel my test at short notice, just 2 days. Unfortunately it was completely out of my hands. Does anybody know if i will be able to reschedule or will i have to pay again? I know it does say at least 10 days notice...

    I sent an email to cancelmytest@rsa.ie but have not heard anything from them yet.

    Also have to defer my driving test, it's due Oct 10th but can't go cos of work. I emailed the RSA but no response as yet. Anybody been in this situation before? Is it just a case of going back to the back of waiting list?

    Same here would love to know the answer to this - had a knee injury when I got my second provisional and the license is now about to run out (in 4 weeks). Now am in good enough shape to start driving again but am worried if I apply for a test (so that I can get a third provisional) that I just wont be ready to take it yet without having a load of lessons!

    Can anyone advise what may be best here please?

    I emailed the RSA and got a reply last week, they rang me and now my test is rescheduled for the first week of November. They were lovely on the phone, and had no problem in accommodating me and working around what times I could do the test. However there is a massive backlog of emails etc so if you are going to defer it I suggest doing it as soon as possible.

    Emailed the RSA two days ago but have heard nothing so I think I will try ring them instead.
