Have you seen Meteors new tariffs? http://www.nocatch.ie WOW.... there really putting it up the rest of the operators.
When I got the iPhone Meteor were slacking a bit. 02 were just €7.50 more plus 50 more minutes for me. This was one of my decisions for the getting the iPhone. But if I was buying one now. I don't know how I could justify it or i would consider getting an unlocked iphone abroad.

With Meteor's new Tariffs some people could break there 02 contract and still save money.

Nah its just that i moved from Meteor to 02. I was with Meteor for years. Now back to 02 just for the iPhone. Hate being with 02. Have you actually used Meteor in the past 3 years?

Bare in mind meteor have always been playing catchup. They were third onto the market, competing with 2 established Networks.(They had to use the 02 network while building there own) Some people are stuck in the past when it comes to them. They also got awarded the 3g license well after Vodafone and 02.

I actually really like Meteor. Only problem is their reception in Maynooth!

It's a good deal alright. I've yet to hear the experience of any iPhone user with their data packs.

Edit: holy crap, just saw their 'Bill Pay Max' plan. Nice! e84 a month and you get unlimited everything except data. I know this isn't the cell phones forum and not the place for network discussion, but has special value to iPhone owners.

Have an O2 phone for personal use (iphone) & an eircom mobile (aka meteor rebadge) for work... No comparison. Coverage & service is far superior on O2.

Work phone suffers from dropped calls, missed calls, late voicemail notification... Haven't had one of those issues with my iphone.

I driev around the country for work & on occasion (many occasion) have had to use the iphone to make & recieve calls.

They are cheap, but I think you get what you pay for. Meteor suck in the very worst possibly sucky way.

Hmmm seems we have had different experiences. I have had more dropped calls and crappy reception with my iPhone since i have had it, than my years with Meteor. But i admit i put that down to the iPhone not 02.

I do think your being a bit harsh, overly aggressive and maybe a tad bit exaggerating about Meteor.:)

    But Hey Anyways.

I've used Meteor with my 2G iPhone and never had a problem. In fact I would go so far as to say that the data throughput with Meteor was more consistent than with my Vodafone 3G card while using both on the train to work.

Then again, that could be a factor of more people using Vodafone.

sounds like iMAX has a chip on this shoulder.

I was with vodafone prepay with my iphone perfectly good service but to expensive changed to 3 for the 10e 1gig data pack again prepay terrible service never had to contact customer service so much in my life a real draner, would never go back.

moved to meteor two months ago just as good as vodafone for service plenty of 3g coverage, edge everywhere with better speeds then vodafone (living in Dublin).
on the 25e for 300mins any network plan havent come closer to going over 300 mins, 5e for 250megs of data or 15e for 10gigs
    no droped calls, no problems

its the best provider for the iphone at the min hands down

never used 02 but never heard a bad word about them either

Now, now. No need for that. :)

I wouldn't necessarily agree - they only have limited 3G coverage, which kinda defeats the purpose of an "always connected" device such as the iPhone. I've even found in the West that the EDGE signal drops to GPRS, rendering the iPhone essentially useless for any kind of data apps.

Using an 3gs on Meteor, and I have to say, I find the Meteor service perfect. I have a 250mb bundle for a fiver a month, no calls have been dropped etc. Admittedly there are times when 3G drops to EDGE, but it's not something that bothers me unduly, as I generally don't need too many apps when I'm out and about, I generally use them at home when I have my WIFI. (Having said that, if I got stuck down the country for a period of time, I would imagine that would change!)

In the past, I've been with the other two main carriers, and I have to say, I've had the least problems with Meteor in general (customer service, the way I'm treated etc.)

I recently jailbreaked and unlocked a 3G iphone and have been using it with meteor. But over the last day or so friends have been saying to me that they've tried ringing me and its just going straight to voicemail, but the phone is on and has full signal. This only happens sometimes, other times it would be ok. Also i'm receiving messages maybe 30mins after they've been sent.
Has anybody had these problems or heard of them before?
    What can i do?
    Thanks.
