I've a 2001 Audi A4, thinking about getting a bluetooth car kit installed. Would a Audi main dealer do this...how much would it cost?

I wouldn't go on the assumption than an Audi dealer could do a better job than someone who's main line of business is installing carkits.

    +1
Carkits.ie -they do all the installs for me, and do very good work (Cork). I would avoid the main dealer.

I was thinking of buying the kit online, maybe ebay or something. Then getting it installed, might work out cheaper. Would companys like carkits.ie install even if the customer was providing the kit. Or would they expect to supply and install

Not at all, tell them the type of car, type of kit, and where you are - this will cost you more. They have certain shops that they deal through, and Vodafone use them exclusively also. Just call them and get some prices.
For blue tooth kits you will want to use the wiring loom in the car so the radio will mute and you can use the radio speakers. When you give the details of your car they will recommend the correct type of kit, and if your car radio is able to use the loom or not. I know that some Audi's (A6 2004 to 2006) had issues with the loom. your A4 should be ok, but don't buy anything until you speak to the car kit fitter.

Exactly, a main dealer is unlikely to have somebody who specialises in these type of things on their payroll. Most likely they will just farm the work out to a local installer.
