    Hi Guys,

    Im looking 2 buy a new laptop. Im going to college and am gonna be doing a course that involves CAD. Be great that my laptop would be high enough spec thats I could do my projects on it. This means detailed graphics.

    Other than that all i would be using it for will be the general web browsing we all do and some music and movie downloading. I wouldnt be doing any gaming on it at all.

    Already been recommended the HP DV6- Any good u think?

    Budget = €700

    I dont know much about the spec and stuff so dont confuse me with a big list of stuff unless u can explain why i'd need it, thanks

    autocad itself doesnt render complex graphics, so a decent processor and any type of gfx chipset, i.e intel x3100 or better would suffice. 2gb ram would be minimal on vista/windows 7, autocad is heavily reliant on the ram.

    have a fiddle around there, get yourself a core 2 2.0ghz for a good start, 3/4gb ram, a decent sized hard drive (more than 160gb), and in an ideal situation, an Nvidia or ATI graphics card.

    generally speaking, you could walk away with a fully functioning autocad student machine for about 400-450, but an extra 100 on ram and a better processor makes a noticeable difference
