Em, seriously, use full stops and commas in future. Also, try to have the words in the correct order, and leave as few out as possible.

It's not hard, and most people let most things slide as long as its legible. But the above looks like it was written by Rainman on LSD

A few things to check out and bear in mind .
    1. what is the life expediency of the product
    2. Is there an Agrement Certificate detailing suitability for Irish Conditions

Bear in mind that most of these products are/were developed in the US and Canada where the nature of roof construction is very different, in that the "slates" are fully supported by way of beginning fixed to a plywood base and the entire roof covering is replace every 20-30 years.

I have seen them on a new house in Athenry and they look very well indeed...however....

A friend of mine(engineer) was acting for a guy in Mayo who put rubber slates up on his newbuild and he has had nightmares with them.

In short the rubber slates vibrated in very windy conditions and this caused a crack to appear between the nail holes on the rubber slate. Hence the slate eventually failed and roughly 200 had to be replaced over a short period of time so far.

I have no idea what brand/spec slate they were etc other than they were rubber.

I'm sure that as with all products there are good quality brands & bad quality brands.

I was looking at these as well and from what I could find none have an Agrement cert and only one has BBA approval. Not sure it's ok to post the name but I'm sure a quick google will find it.

We put rubber slates on our house. They are a real pain in windy conditions as they flap in the wind!!! And make lots of noise. My advice - dont use them.

I have rubber slates in the home I am renting, the North facing roof has a green slime growing on all the houses in my estate after less than 2 years. Also when its windy we hear lots of noises.

    Ah takes me back...

Since this post appeared some time ago I heard of using the normal slate hooks with these type of slates to stop the vibration in the wind. Might be an idea if anyone is thinking about using them.

Yes just got a quote for hooking down the slates last week. They quoted me 2200euro for the whole roof. Just dont have that money right now. I really regret going with them now!!!
