XP vs Vista Ping

    After going to and fro from bot OS's in recent months, I've settled down on Vista x64 Ultimate. My current broadband is Eircom 1mb with 128kps upload (its all I can get out here :o).

    I get full speed 95% of the time, though I have noticed some things. Pinging google on XP, I'd get about 50ms, whilst on Vista it clocks in about 60ms. Same in gaming servers, from about 70-80 in XP to about 90-100 in Vista. Now I have uninstalled some Vista features, but its still an issue. Anythin else I can try to reduce the ping a bit, or is this just bad coding on behalf of Vista?

    Vista dials home when your online, thus higher pings. Have a look see at these links to reduce it.

    thanks, had most of that turned off, but i'll try the rest and let you know when i get home
