leg raises to the front, side and back are good for dynamic flexibility.Static stretching can be held for several minutes after training or just watching tv.Contract relax stretching is another one but in a seperate session to regular training. However ,practising youre kicks on higher targets like a bag will give the most direct transfer to your goal.Too much to explain in a post, see a by brad appleton ,everything you need to know and more, its been on the net for years.Theres also a book by tom kurz thats pretty good its on the stadion publishing site.

for the bjj heads here any particular exercises ye found good when starting out?? one thing i'm having particular problems with is rolling on my shoulders, find it really hard to roll onto them and keep my legs back. if anyone has any exercises i could do at home would greatly appreciate it!!

you can practice fundamental bjj movements to help with cordination which will make you smoother doing certain moves while sparring.Eg,shrimping ,reverse shrimp, leg threading, back rolls, granbys, sit outs etc theres lots of them on you tube.In terms of specific stretching for grappling, ive found the ability to bring your foot up near your head, knee to shoulder ,knees on the floor over your head to be very handy particularly if you play guard a lot.All the great grapplers off the back have really flexible hips.
