Motor Tax question

    Hi

I recently bought a 1.4 2001 Peugeot 206 and just got it Insured and NCT'd yesterday. Now, the tax has been gone on it since the start of 2009. Do I just have to fill out the RF100A form and drop into the Tax Office?

Also, I spend a fair bit of time in Tipperary so the car is registered there. Can I tax it in Dublin as I'm up here now, or do I have to go back and Tax it in Tipp?

    Cheers

you can tax it where ever you like, but you'll need to get the form stamped by the police to say it's been off the road before you do that.

Yeah cheers, I have that form signed and stamped by the Gardai.

Also, do I need to bring my Insurance Cert of NCT Cert with me to the Tax Office?

Use the online tax renewal system. You won't be able to do this for the first time because you will need the letter stamped by the law saying it was off the road. But after that renew online, tis a good service and keeps you out of the inevitable queues.

Remember that you only have to tax it from the begining of the month the ownership changed over to you. So if you bought it in August and the tax was out since January you only have to back pay the tax from the 1st August.
