I have been using voipcheap for about 3 years.
for making calls almost anywhere in the world its free for 90 days once you pay €10. (not 100% on that)

I am using a normal phone connected to a voip router. so the pc dosnt even have to be turned on.

I use it for calling New Zealand, Italy, Ireland, Australia, England,

Only down side is it doesn't give you a number so people can call you.

    Hello mmalaka,

You could use either an ATA device, or an IP phone (both available from elara. Then you need to use a VoIP provider. I my self use Jumblo, they've the same system as voipcheap, but offer better rates. (they are both part of Betamax group). you need to have fairly good knowlege of networking and VoIP, to be able to configure an ATA device or an IP phone.

Or you could go with Blueface an buy a ready configured ATA or IP phone. I don't know about their rates for the middle east, but I know they're a lot more expansive than Jumblo or CheapVoip.

Also you could go with freespeech they're actually offering a free DSL router with ATA ports.

If you need any help configuring the ATA device or the IP phone, just pm me!

    Hope this helps.

I would suggest Blueface as the VOIP provider.
But if you have a specific destination in mind then do a comaprison of the various providers rates for your destination.

All the providers use the same tech but some will have very good rates for specific destinations and these vary from provider to provider.

I use a router with a handset port for VOIP calls and it is the preferred method IMO ...... the router manages the bandwidth it gives to calls and makes them a priority.
