Okay, I ordered Chorus NTL off of a guy outside tesco in Cork on the 21st of August, a Friday. He tells me they are going to come to the house Wednesday between 9am and 12pm. I was happy away, glad to have internet coming and all that

So along comes Wednesday and the time goes by, 2pm and I ring chorus, the lady on the phone(forgot to get a name) tells me that he put down the wrong number but someone will be along in the next few hours to install it...
I tried ringing the representative from tesco but he avoided my calls like the professional he is.
I ring again on Thursday as noone showed on Wednesday evening and they tell me there is no records of my name at all in their system... So I ask them to look through it and look at my previous phone call and get back to me, which they never did

I then sent this email to them on the 28th of August...

    "
I have rang your freephone number on numerous occasions in the last few days. Am sick of waiting on the phone to be honest

I ordered a new account last week and was told it would be delivered to my house on wednesday morning between 9am and 11am. Its still not there, the person who sold this to me is aidan outside tesco in paul street shopping centre. Phone number: 087-xxxxxxx
I have tried to ring him on numerous occasions and he keeps telling me he will ring me back in 10 minutes and it always takes 3 hours for a return call and now he is completely avoiding them. I am sick of this and think this is horrible, it has messed up my week being totally honest.
I used to have an account linked to xx xxxxx xxxxxx but I moved, and there was problems with connection there at the start too. Please get back to me with a proposed solution, and speedy if possible.
Being honest I don't think a discount is out of the question and if not I will definately move my business elsewhere, as well as discuss the treament I have recieved with others.
    Thanks for your time,
    Regards,
    Michael
    "

To which I got no reply!!

So I rang them again last friday, sick of all this I order a new account completely and don't bring up anything. They tell me they will come Friday but I have to send in proof of id and living address before then, I did this Sunday morning and got nothing back from them.

I get a text off them an hour ago saying "Your Chorus NTL appointment has been cancelled. Please contact 1908 extn 4122(Mon-Fri 9am-5.30pm)."

I waited on the phone for 10 minutes for an answer but got too fed up waiting yet again. Does anyone have any ideas??

This is honestly driving me totally insane!!!!

The pressure of 'best Irish ISP' must be getting to them.

There is no Chorus branch in Cork as of last year, they have representatives outside tesco out here who are there every day to work for them

Gotta side with david7536 on this one, do you sign up for every charity/"service" that is on the street advertising also? I personally only sign up for a product that I've either heard positive things about from friends or have an interest in getting through my own product research.

I've no sympathy for people who blindly listen to what a salesman says, they'll promise you anything! You're the kind of easy prey they are looking for...

Don't get me wrong, I don't justify what these sales persons do to get sales, but you're a fool to believe everything that is promised. Research is required before any product change or addition for any product.

Now as far as I know (and I could be wrong), UPC don't do this kinda of advertising. IF they did, well I still would have limited sympathy; you wouldn't sign up to a new Bank through these methods would you? (And if you would I'd be just as worried...)

ok, think you got me wrong here. It wasnt a guy who was standing outside asking people to sign up, its just a guy sitting at a table for a day signing up people, and yes I would sign up to a bank through this.
Its what they do down here to get students

Because they closed their office they have someone selling chorus ntl and broadband for the last 2 years outside tesco in Paul Street. Not really sure how I can explain this any further

He works for them, he sells their product for them

    okay, thanks anyway....

    Uh guys,
Chorus/UPC do ALL their Cork sign-ups from this place. The people there work directly for UPC, and are not agents.

Chorus shut their offices in Cork a long time ago and find it easier to work from this mini-stand with massive walkby traffic. Obviously the replies are all from non-Cork based posters since everyone here knows where the stand is.

Why is it the majority of replies on this site tend to be of the 'yore ma' variety?

Just keep at them. Order time and time again, until they finally come. That's what I'd do.
