I'll have none of those chinese watery teas! Charge what you want, gimme a good strong cuppa Bewleys anyday.

I'm actually interested in trying other strong tea brands with good flavour, might try the Aldi stuff next time.

I actually think the McDonalds "Roberts" tea is really nice.

    That sugar replacement stuff?

Anyone that puts sugar in their tea doesn't have a clue what the hell they're on about.

Can't believe so many people like Unilever P.G. Tipps (aka Lyons)!!

Barry's classic blend is definitely the best Irish breakfast tea bag.

If it tastes bitter that's because some idiot is there stirring it or squeezing it to make it "stronger". Fecking morons, I hate people doing that!!!

To make it stronger give it time. Do not man-handle a tea bag.

Nah I'd disagree with this, ya can't get a good crank off the tay unless you give it a few decent dunks with the spoon and a squeeze off the inside of the mug, otherwise the tay's gone cowld by the time it's strong enough.

This is also why teabags with strings are absolutely pointless. If you do go near it with a spoon (for the few dunks) the string wraps around it and you have an awful job getting if off the spoon and into the bin.

If you don't then tea splashes onto the counter as you drop the bag into the mug from a height to get it down near the bottom of the mug, and you also dribble drops of tay on the floor by the bin because a) you can't drain enough water out of the bag before binning it and b) you have to make the leaky bag transfer without a spoon for the reason above!

Who in their right mind came up with strings on teabags?!

Oh....+1 Lyons gold blend. McGraths for the value option!

i never notice a difference between brands

i think the whole issue is just a storm in a teacup

Few outside Cork drinks Barry's tea. Half of them don't even like it but they drink it cos it's Cork related, just like that Beamish muck. The only, and I mean only tea in Ireland worth buying is yellow label Lipton tay. Its a touch more expensive than others I think, but like everything else in life ya get what you pay for. Brew it hot n strong. Surely end of thread!

    :D
    You're probably right!

Although despite being a Corkie, born and reared, I'm not a fan of Barrys. Waaaaaay prefer Lyons. It's not something I'd go round shouting though down here. :pac:
    I don't drink Beamish/Murphys either.

(For balance: I'm DISGUSTED Roches Stores is gone, and "allergic" to d'Examiner going national...)

And the Barrys tea ads - grrr. Make me want to head over to their production plant and kick ass.
